What is Better Letter?

Better Letter is an application that was created to repair the problems associated with form letters and letter campaigns. Better Letter allows networks of people who have a common interest, to collaborate one writing effective letters. What kind of letters? Well, generally speaking, we had political and activist type of letters in mind, but really it can be used for any type of letter.

How does it work?

When a group of people write letters in the application, we take their paragraphs and split them up into individual sentences, which are then mixed up and output in a fun bubble for the next person who decides to write. This technology allows people to share thoughts and words just like they do with form letters, except that these letters are custom, and will not be identical.

Why is this better than form letters?

Imagine this. You get a stack of letters in the mail one day and you open the first one and read it, then you open a second one and it visually looks exactly the same. You can tell it is exactly the same letter without reading through it, so do you? Of course not. This is also true when you send a form letter to a company or political figure. You are basically giving them the OK to not read your letter, and that's not effective for making any real change. Well, we don't think so...

How come you can't e-mail a letter?

Well, we did a bit of homework about this first and found that generally, e-mails can be just as ineffective if not more ineffective than form letters, so we say "no thanks!". The goal of Better Letter is to make real change with whatever cause you are involved in. So no, we do not offer e-mail services. If you feel that you must e-mail, we are not stopping you from the old copy / paste method!
